John C. Thomas has achieved the rank of Nidan (second degree black belt) and was one of the original Focus  Martial Arts students. Sensei Thomas teaches Parent/Child  classes as well as mixed rank and advanced classes.  In describing why he enjoys teaching,  Sensei Thomas says: " I love to help  students of all ages and believe that  Karate has the ability to change the way people feel about themselves. It helps students to develop a sense of  empowerment, self-confidence and discipline. Karate also helps to relieve the stress that we all feel living in  today's  busy world." Along with being a certified  Referee for AAU Karate, Sensei Thomas is also a four  time  local,  state and regional senior black  belt champion in both Kata and Kumite.
    Sensei Thomas has been married for 37 years to his wife, Diana, with whom he has 4 children (his son,  Andrew, is also a black belt with Focus) and 6 grandchildren. His wife earned a Brown Belt with Focus.
    Sensei Thomas' education includes degrees in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiologic Technology and  Science, and is presently a Zone Business Manager of  Molecular Imaging for Siemens Medical Solutions. In his  spare time, he enjoys Christian study and dramatic arts, fishing and motorcycling.
